Ashlee Wisdom’s Advocacy for Black Women’s Health

Ashlee Wisdom

Ashlee Wisdom is a public health and research professional and the founder of Health In Her HUE, a digital platform that connects Black women to the healthcare providers, services and resources that are committed to their health and well-being. Her mission was to create a space for Black women to become informed and empowered when making decisions pertaining to their health and the health issues that disproportionately affect them. But there are still major injustices driven by systemic racism that put the lives and bodies of Black women in America at risk.

Ashlee’s work has encountered barriers to progress perpetuated by the broken democratic and judicial institutions in America that push Black women to the margins. An overly-politicized federal judiciary and a Supreme Court stacked with radically conservative justices like Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch put the wellbeing of Black women at jeopardy.

Ashlee is calling for bold structural reforms to our country’s political systems to break the barriers of democracy that disallow Black women to participate and be advocates for themselves.
